Starry Eyed

When Lia asked me to do her make up last weekend I instantly knew I wanted to do something more dramatic than what she's used to. The owner of I Do Details, an event planning company, always looks super polished for work, so I chose a look that would let her feel special and sexy the night of her birthday. #happy28th! Since she was wearing black later that night, I chose a purple gunmetal shimmery lid with luminous skin and rosy-nude lips. We both LOVE how it turned out! For product breakdowns, continue reading.

Face: I prepped the skin with Embryolisse moisturizer, MAC Strobe Cream, and Smashbox Primer. I then used a combo of Nars Sheer Glow with Nars Radiant Long Wear foundation in a few different colors to create a seamless contour on her face. Concealed with Tarte Shape Tape and Nars Creamy Concealer underneath the eyes and the high points of the face and set all over with RCMA No Color Powder. I then warmed up the skin with Hoola Bronzer and Kat Von D Belissima blush. Highlighted the high points of her face with Fenty Beauty in Lightning Dust + Fire Crystal and we moved onto eyes.

Eyes: I always start with Anastasia Brow Pencil in Taupe and set them with her Brow Gel in Clear. I really believe doing them first gives you a nice frame of reference to how far you can extend the outer corner of eyeshadow. I used a Chanel cream eyeshadow in the shade Fatal all over the lid and deepening the outer corner of her eyes with MAC Nocturnal. Lined the waterline with Urban Decay in Whiskey. For more of a light reflecting effect I applied MAC Satin Taupe (holy grail for me) in the center of the lid. Smoked out the bottom with the two shadows used above making sure to extend and connect the upper lid with the lower lid to elongate the eye. Finished with Ardell Wispies + individuals in specific areas to create more volume.

Lips: I wanted her lips to be very simple but still polished and pretty as I felt the main focus should be the eyes and the glowy skin (yes you can have both). Lined with MAC Soar, blended out with my finger and applied MAC Blankety all over top of the lips. The rosy tone of the liner layers nicely underneath the creamy texture of the lipstick creating a cohesive look. It really pulls the whole look together.

Bored of "Instagram" Make Up

After a bit of self reflection on the style of my work I have come to the realization I am most comfortable and my best work is usually on the "softer side" of make up styles. Which is actually comica
